“Chicago Tap Theatre is incredibly excited to give this award recognizing the unique ability of Ben Vereen to create narratives using dance and movement. He has been a hero to us as we’ve helped to create a language for using tap dance to tell stories. His body conveys meaning and character in way that words never could, with a richness and detail that is astonishing. I can’t wait for the city of Chicago to join us in honoring and thanking Mr. Vereen for his immense contribution to American dance and theater culture.” Mark Yonally, Artistic Director, Chicago Tap Theatre
