Today goes down in the CTT history books as just one of those great experiences we’ve had together. There are quite a few that live in the fondest part of our collective memory, among them our performance at Lollapalooza, our trips to France, our New York debut at the New York Music Theater Festival and of course those baked potatoes we had at Stevenson High School and today’s performance on WGN midday news is way up there on the list.

It all started when the friendliest security guard ever lead us to our dressing room – or should I say, to BOZO THE CLOWN’S DRESSING ROOM!? That’s right. Today, Chicago Tap Theatre changed in the room where the beloved Bozo prepared for the shows that so many of us grew up watching. Our Chicago born and bred CTT folk exchanged stories of watching Bozo when they were growing up and even being part of the audience as young children. Pretty cool full circle type moment there I would say.

After hanging out in our dressing room for a bit, we were escorted into the studio to do our mic check. We met the lovely people that are the WGN midday news crew who were more than kind and oh-so-hospitable and did a quick run though of both of our pieces. Our favorite part of the mic check however was the awesome response we got from our fellow WGN midday March 4th features, the band Dot Dot Dot who cheered every time we finished a run through. Made us feel really cool (even though they were CLEARLY much cooler than us.)

We’re happy to say we made it through our bumpers and our main segment without a hitch and Mark did a great job summing up the company and our show Love Taps in about 20 seconds flat. We are so thankful to WGN for this opportunity to promote this show to Chicago and nationally. We’ve worked super hard on this one and we really want to make sure people are as excited to see it as we are to perform it. If you missed the live airing, you can check out the video below or better yet, come to our benefit, the Shim Sham Shindig on Saturday where we will perform both of the pieces we did on WGN as well as a few CTT favorites. (More photos of this experience to come!) ♥ CTT
