With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, everyone seems to be getting a little romantic these days – including Chicago Tap Theatre. Not only are we up to our ears in romance with our newest show Love Taps, poised to open in March, but we’re also revisiting the romance between Little Red Riding Hood and Wolf that blossomed in our last story show. Stacy and Phil will resume their roles as unexpected lovers when they perform the love duet from Little Dead Riding Hood this Saturday at Duets for My Valentine at the Park West.

Many people who see our story shows may not realize just how intimately we get to know our characters. We spend a lot of time thinking about all the little details of their life and history to give each character thought and depth beyond their time on stage. I decided it might be fun to get some insight from Stacy about love in the (Riding) Hood so I bombarded her with an impromptu interview one night on GChat.
============================
me: First question?
Stacy: Let me poor a glass of wine
me: Ready now?
Stacy: Ok
me: Ok, so, if Little Red signed up for a dating website, what would she say on her profile?
Stacy: Hahahahahaha, this is hard….I just skipped around in my apt, trying to get into character. Ok, let’s see...I’m cute and inquisitive, whimsical and I love the color red. I’m afraid of wolves and I love to plant flowers. I love skipping and I’m cute. Did I mention I’m just so darn cute?
me: It's funny that you would say afraid of wolves because of course in this dance, Red falls in love with the wolf. What do you think attracted her to the wolf?
Stacy: I think the fact that he smells like her grandmother
me: …because he ate her?
Stacy: …because he dressed in her nightgown.
me: Do you think Red was looking for love?
Stacy: Yes. I think she was always looking for love. I don't think she knows how not to.
me: Where do you think Wolf and Red would go for Valentine's day?
Stacy: Wolf would want to go to Fogo de Chao. Red can eat at their salad bar.
me: Wow, that's really the perfect date place.
Stacy: Thank you. I'd like to think of a place for a nightcap as well….
Stacy: …oooh, Howl at the Moon…for a nightcap.
me: Touché my friend.
Stacy: (nailed it)
me: Red and Wolf are obviously kindof an unconventional couple, what advice do you think Red would have for other people who fall in love with someone unexpected?
Stacy: Follow your "instincts".
